Nick Nelson Biography

Nick Nelson was born in Carrollton, Georgia in 1978. He received a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia in 2000 and an MFA from Georgia Southern University in 2004. While working on his MFA, Nelson turned his attention from painting to mixed media installations, exploring themes related to representation and humanity’s need for order and meaning. While primarily experimental in his approach, Nelson has returned to painting in his most recent work. Nelson’s current paintings take their inspiration from the landscape surrounding his home in southwest Georgia. Nelson currently lives in Leesburg, Georgia, and is the Curator of Education at the Albany Museum of Art in Albany, Georgia.
