Ideas APart

An Array of Artwork by Jefferson County High School's First AP Art Class

Ashley Davis

Being in AP art has really helped me to define myself as an artist and has helped me to look at art in a new perspective. My inspiration for the work featured here is of a little girl I found in a magazine. I was flipping through and spotted the girl in a group of people and she stood out to me. Everyone had smiles except for her. She had a blank stare on her face. I chose to use pencil so that I could do more detail and shading with her. The reason I used watercolor blue for the background is to bring brightness to the picture. This way it makes the picture a little happier.

Most of my art this school year is made with paint, pastels, and pencil. My drawings are random things that would pop into my head and I would convert them onto paper. I enjoy using bright colors to help express happiness.
